I have not had any luck on these blogs because I am finding again that it is more of a sharing either by the author or a collaborative effort in regards to lesson planning and classroom activities. However, despite my fruitless online efforts, I have found that this assignment has been incredible for my understanding of our new curriculum; where it was, is and where it is going. This activity to analyze the curriculum from a philosophical, conceptual and design perspective has truly been the most rewarding because I did not fully understand the changes until I went through this experience. I also think that I am not alone. I believe that there are others, not just at my school but in the district that do not fully understand the layering of our curriculum and what each piece means. I hope to share this with my colleagues in a few weeks when we have our summer Pro-D days because I think those people (and I was one of them) who feels a certain aspect does not directly relate to their teachable area, do not bother with becoming familiar with the "inapplicable" content. I hope the following document and presentation will help my colleagues further understand how our curriculum is connected, the reason for change and where it came from.
